Kazan National Research Technical University named after A. N. Tupolev — KAI hosted a Memorial Forum organized as part of the "Candle of Memory" initiative by the Civic Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan. The event was timed to coincide with the International Day for the Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi concentration camps.
The forum’s keynote speaker was Natalia Topal, a member of the Commission on Education, Science and Educational Activities of the Civic Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan. In her address, she emphasized that the memory of the tragedy of the Holocaust and Nazi terror is not merely a historical fact, but a living moral guideline. Special attention was paid to the importance of systematic efforts to counter the falsification of history and to foster conscious patriotism among young people.
The forum has acquired a particularly poignant tone thanks to the story of Vera Migunova, a KNRTU-KAI teacher, who as a child survived the horrors of a concentration camp. Her life story is a living testimony of that terrible era and a reminder that war touched every family.
The participants were particularly interested in the students' presentations, which featured archival photographs, eyewitness letters, and excerpts from documentary footage.
The event concluded with a moment of silence in honor of the memory of the perished and tortured concentration camps prisoners.
